The Secretary General of the Association of Real Estate Developers reveals five key demands to regulate the real estate market
Engineer Mohamed Ghabashy, Secretary General of the Association of Real Estate Developers and Chairman of Scope Developments, confirmed that the association’s first conference concluded with a number of fundamental demands aimed at supporting the real estate sector and strengthening its role as a key partner in sustainable development. He noted that these demands represent a top priority for the association during the upcoming phase.
During the association’s inaugural conference, he highlighted that these demands focus on establishing a continuous and structured dialogue between real estate developers and government institutions. This dialogue aims to unify perspectives and address the key challenges facing the market. He also emphasised creating broader opportunities for collaboration with the public sector in delivering social and mid-income housing projects, ensuring a balance between investment and social impact, while strengthening the state’s ability to meet the growing demand for residential units.
He pointed out the importance of providing residential land plots in smaller and varied sizes to meet the needs of a wider range of market segments, emphasising that diversity in real estate offerings has become a necessity rather than a choice given the current economic changes.
He also emphasised the importance of developing and improving the licensing system in the new cities, contributing to faster project execution, reducing procedural burdens on investors, and encouraging new investments in the sector.
He called for greater attention to Egyptians working abroad and for listening to their demands, noting that they have become some of the biggest supporters of the national economy and the real estate sector, representing an influential segment in demand and investment. He urged the activation and support of the mortgage finance initiative, with interest rates reduced to 6% for social housing and 8% for mid-income housing, helping to expand the base of beneficiaries and stimulate real demand.
He affirmed that the association’s first conference reflects the strength of the association and the cohesion of its members, saying: “We felt that we are a strong association with strong members, a true union capable of making a difference and shaping a more sustainable real estate future.”
